My writing baseline from the start of the year (2024-2025, 8th Grade)

On this assignment—which I completed on September 20th—I got a 92.5/100.

My short response from the end of the year (2024-2025, 8th Grade)

On this assignment—which I completed on April 10th—I got a perfect 100/100.

I feel my writing is stronger in the second piece compared to the first because of the 7.5 point difference, and also because of the way they're constructed. The first piece is not very formal, meanwhile the second piece is more formal. The first one is also much longer, while being worse than the second. I feel I have grown as a writer mainly because my writing style is starting to match that of high school or even college level students, and I am recieving higher grades than before.

This assignment, which I completed all the way back on October 20th, I got at 60/100.

My creative writing from the end of the year (2024-2025, 8th Grade)

On this assignment—which I completed on January 6th—I got a perfect 100/100.

I feel my creativity is stronger in the second assignment compared to the first because of the 40 point difference, which speaks for itself. I also believe my creativity is stronger in the second assignment because of how they are. While the first assignment is indeed very creative, it utilizes NONE of the CCV words (mostly because I got carried away while writing it). However, in the second assignment, not only is it just—if not more—creative than the other one, it meets all standards of the assignment and is why the assignment has a grade 40 points more than the former. I feel I have grown in overall creatively because my work is better than before and it meets all standards of my teacher, Ms. Mckenna.

How I would describe my transformation as a student in ELA from the beginning of the year compared to the end:

At the start of the year, I was an ok student, passing the marking period with a 93.3 average. Although it is definitely good, it can be improved. Now, at the end of the year, almost 6 months later, I've grown to a 95.5 average. Although it's an increase of only 2.2 points, it's an increase that can be the difference between a 90+ average and a 90- average. I've gotten much better at writing RACER^2's, essays, creative writing pieces, and many other ELA related things.

How I would describe my transformation as a person from the beginning of the year compared to the end:

At the start of the year, I was a child fresh out of 7th grade, and a very interesting person at that. I still didn't feel all of the pressure of 8th grade and ended up being childish for almost half of the year before realizing that 8th grade was actually serious and that I would have to lock in if I wanted to end off my time at Ryan on the right step to high school. I am lucky to have all my friends still in this class and that I am able to make time for them often. I finally understand why my parents pressure me to work hard because I must be a role model for my siblings and I must be serious in my work or else I will not make it far.

AWARD FOR MOST GROWTH

I feel like I am deserving of this award because as stated multiple times before, I have grown a lot, in terms of grades, my reading and writing skills, and as a person.

AWARD FOR MOST POSITIVE/UPBEAT

I feel like I am deserving of this award because, if you haven't noticed, I'm almost always happy and upbeat.

AWARD FOR MOST INDEPENDENT

I feel like I am deserving of this award because I've been very independent this entire year, only joining groups if it's required in the directions/instructions of the assignment.
